BA Hons in American Literature & History, UEA.
Former local government officer.
Senior researcher/political officer GMB 1991-7.

Caroline is a former local government officer and prior to becoming an MP, Caroline was the senior researcher and political officer for the GMB union, and is a GMB member.

Political Interests: education, employment, childcare, Sure Start, anti-social behaviour, welfare to work, foreign affairs and House of Commons modernisation.

Voluntary Activity: Hon President, Denaby United Football Club. All posts are voluntary and unremunerated.
Chair, Working for Childcare 1991-95.

Caroline's personal interests include:

  • Cinema: Caroline and her husband Phil are dedicated
    film goers.
  • Tap dancing with the Division Belles, a troupe of Labour women MPs.
  • Leisure time with family.

Caroline lives in Sprotbrough, Doncaster with husband Phil and their three teenage children. In 1994, Caroline and Phil foiled an armed bank robbery, for which the defendant received a ten-year sentence.
