Don Valley MP Caroline Flint welcomed the announcement that Thomsons are to base five aircraft at Robin Hood Airport.

Said Caroline: "The Thompson decision is further evidence that we have a winning airport on our doorstep that will place Doncaster on the map.

"This kind of investment could draw up to a million passengers a year. We could not have a bigger vote of confidence from the industry in South Yorkshire's first truly international airport.

"If the Robin Hood brand helps Peel to attract the UK's biggest travel firm, with no doubt more airlines to follow, then we should all get behind our new airport and help it succeed."
