Childcare moves on in 'Leaps and Bounds'
says MP
Visit to opening of Leaps
and Bounds
Private day Nursery, Rossington All Saints School,
Bond Street Rossington.
Childcare in
striding forward in leaps in bounds in Doncaster says
Caroline Flint, and made her point by visiting the opening
of Leaps & Bounds Day Nursery in Rossington this
week.
"Childcare is one of Doncaster's
growing small business sectors," says Caroline.
"It is fantastic to see Allison Dilworth and Lynn
Henderson, who have started this business from scratch.
We need new businesses, particularly in our mining villages,
and above all it is women coming to the fore, taking
a lead in starting new childcare businesses."
"I know as an MP that this Government,
like no other, has put its money and support behind
childcare, with a target of over 1 million new places.
Childcare is essential for hard-working families. The
Neighbourhood Nursery Initiative is the latest plan
to ensure quality childcare in every community. So I
was delighted to be able to drop in on this important
day for Leaps and Bounds."
Said Lynn Henderson: "This has
been a two and a half year effort, but the opening is
a dream come true. After the lot of disappointments,
the Neighbourhood Nursery funding was the real turning
point."
Lynn and Allison raised the money
to open the nursery with help from the Neighbourhood
Nurseries Initiative, which provided £108,000
towards building costs. Leaps and Bounds is the second
full-time day nursery to open in Rossington in less
than a year. Lynn and Allison hope that the 50 place
nursery will soon be full.
With support from All Saints
Headteacher David Rowsell, they were able to establish
the nursery on land at Rossington All Saints School.
Both women are former pupils at the High School, and
worked at Meritina, the Coats Viyella factory in Rossington,
which closed a few years ago.
