MP welcomes Daylands Face-lift

25 February 2005

Caroline Flint said:

Don Valley MP Caroline Flint has expressed her support for Doncaster Council's efforts to modernise housing in Conisbrough and Denaby, by seeing first hand first improvements taking place on Daylands Avenue, Conisbrough.

"It was great to speak with residents in Daylands Avenue about the face lift given to the first 60 properties in the village. The Labour Government is determined to improve our neighbourhoods, so that they are all places people want to live and call home and the Council is not wasting any time getting the job done. Most of all residents are very happy with the improvements."

Each home is getting a new insulating brick-style render on the outside and improved roof insulation. They are also having new-look kitchens, refitted bathrooms and re-wiring as part of the council's drive to bring all council owned homes up to a higher standard. The results is homes that are warmer, with a modern appearance outside and a more attractive interior.

This work is a partnership initiative between the Government's Pathfinder scheme - to modernise homes in South Yorkshire and Doncaster's Housing Decency programme, led by Mayor Winter and Cabinet Member Cllr Chris Mills, which has already improved thousands of homes across Doncaster.
