Denaby Main Primary deserves Quality
Mark
says MP
21st January 2005
Caroline Flint was full of praise
for Denaby Main Primary School this week after spending
a morning visiting the school.
Said Ms Flint: "There are few
schools in the borough that face the challenges of Denaby
Main Primary, but the Basic Skills Quality Mark achieved
by the school in 2004, shows just how well they are
rising to those challenges.
"This school has happy, caring
and committed staff and the pupils were a credit to
their parents. Today I saw well-turned out, well behaved
and attentive children who really love their school.
Denaby Main Primary makes every hour interesting for
the children. In a whole morning, I didn't hear one
raised voice, but I saw lots of smiles."
Ms Flint said the Government was going
from strength to strength helped by record levels of
Government investment in primary education. Under this
Government, the school has five more learning support
assistants, thirty computers and six interactive whiteboards.
Said headteacher Carol Halstead: "From
the thriving breakfast club, to the redesigned nursery,
Denaby Main makes the most of our staff, the latest
technology and modern classrooms to give these children
the quality education they deserve."
The MP was also full of praise for
the way the school was organised. "The Head, Carol
Halstead and staff are doing a great job. There were
more teachers and learning support assistants than ever;
a speech therapist working with small groups and learning
mentors helping children that lacked confidence."
The Don Valley MP attended the assembly, before sitting
in on the morning's lessons and ended her visit helping
to serve school dinners.
