Estfeld
pupils wise up about Westminster
30 January 2006
Pupils from Estfeld School held their
own Question Time when they quizzed MP Caroline Flint
on the role of a Member of Parliament this week.
Ms Flint answered questions for 45
minutes before having a tour of the school with Headteacher
Trevor Atkinson.
Ms Flint was asked some challenging
questions, including: "Is Tony Blair a nice man?"
and "Why when we watch the regional news on TV
is it all about Scunthorpe and Hull?"
Said Ms Flint: "Estfeld School
always makes me feel welcome and the children asked
some great questions. MPs are very fortunate that Parliament
has a marvellous Education Unit, so I was able to bring
some booklets and posters about Parliament suitable
for primary school pupils. It is even better when schools
bring children to Westminster, so I can play host for
a day."
If your school would like booklets
or posters from the Wise up about Parliament series,
please contact Caroline Flint on 366778.
