Safer Doncaster TV network goes live
28 June 2005
Don Valley MP Caroline Flint was the
honoured guest this week as she joined the Safer Doncaster
Partnership to switch on the Safer Doncaster TV Network,
the first community safety TV network to be established
in the Yorkshire & Humber region.
The initiative uses a network of twelve
plasma screens at key locations, GPs surgeries, cafes,
hospitals, and shopping areas to promote crime prevention
and other important information.
Said Caroline: "The launch of
the Safer Doncaster TV network is another first for
Doncaster. This welcome initiative by our community
safety partnership is backed by substantial investment
from the Labour Government enabling the project to be
funded for at least three years."
The first broadcasts include features
on tackling motorcycle nuisance, the work of the Council's
noise control team, "Smartwater" - a new property
marking system, and the move towards Safer Neighbourhood
policing teams.
The first twelve sites with screens
include the Conisbrough Health Centre, the DRI, Tesco
Extra (in Balby) and at the Scott GP Practice.
