Minister praises
School's enthusiasm
28 June 2004
Minister of
State for School Standards, David Miliband, was in Dunscroft
to visit Hatfield Crookesbroom School this week.
The Minister was guest of Caroline
Flint MP and local Labour councillor Linda Curran who
is a governor at the school.
During his visit, the Minister said:
"Caroline Flint frequently takes up local issues
with Ministers to ensure that the Government helps her
constituents, but she is also very keen to show Ministers
the good work happening in her local schools. That is
why I have been able to spend time today as a guest
of Mrs Herring and the staff of Hatfield Crookesbroom
School.
"Caroline told me about the first
class OFSTED report the school received, and from my
visit today I have been able to witness the enthusiasm
of staff, the support of governors like Cllr Linda Curran
and the leadership of the Head, Carol Herring. I hope
that with the support of this Labour Government, this
school will continue to go from strength to strength."
Said Caroline Flint: "I have
nothing but praise for the achievements of Hatfield
Crookesbroom School, for the good work of Carol Herring
and for hard working governors like Roza Eborall and
Linda Curran. There is no doubt that children are getting
a better education and better start in life under Labour
and I am delighted that David Miliband could see an
example of that for himself today."
After the visit to Hatfield Crookesbroom
School, the Minister held a meeting with Primary Headteachers
from the Don Valley constituency, followed by a brief
tour of the art department at Hatfield Visual Arts College
with Head, Chris Coady.
