Caroline
Flint MP welcomes role for coal in
Energy Review
15 June 2006
Don Valley MP Caroline Flint's comment
on the Government Statement on the Energy Review:
"The Government's recognition
of the important role coal plays, particularly meeting
peak demands in the winter, and the continuing role
for coal in the future of UK energy supply is an important
start.
"The establishment of a Coal
Forum, which will give voice to producers and to the
trade unions that represent members at Rossington will
be important to address how the UK can make the best
use of clean coal technologies in the future."
"As other sources of domestic
fuel decline, I hope that UK Coal will take the Government's
views on the importance of coal as a positive signal
for its future plans."
