Caroline praises outstanding school
28 February 2005
Don Valley MP Caroline Flint called
in to pass on her congratulations to Rossington Grange
Lane Infant School this week, which was identified as
one of the country's 400 outstanding schools in Ofsted's
annual report.
Said Ms Flint: "The success of
Grange Lane School is well-deserved and Jean Taylor
and her staff should take credit for the excellent work
they do with their pupils.
"I met children who were friendly,
well-turned out and well behaved. The work of an Infant
School is the foundation on which the children's future
learning depends and this school has much to be proud
of.
"I will continue to do everything
in my power as MP to help Grange Lane Infant School
to have all the resources it needs to carry on doing
a great job." The school has benefited from 10
additional classroom assistants in the last five years
and has a 52 place nursery.
Ms Flint was given a guided tour by
head teacher, Jean Taylor, which included the computer
suite and new toilet blocks. The school now has 21 computers
for pupils, with two interactive whiteboards ordered.
Said Ms Flint: "From the
day I was elected, I have worked to see children taught
in smaller groups, by teachers who are well supported
by assistants, in modern well equipped schools. At schools
like Grange Lane, we are seeing the results of that
investment and approach."
