MP backs angry residents over bus
withdrawal
17 November 2004
Don Valley MP Caroline Flint has
joined with angry Bessacarr Grange residents to campaign
for the 89 bus service to be restored. The 89 bus service,
withdrawn by MASS/Leon on September 4th has left some
residents without easy access to a bus service.
Said Ms Flint: "The petition
from Bessacarr Grange residents shows the level of concern.
The right of firms like MASS to withdraw services with
little notice, gives no time for an alternative service
to be put in place. I am particularly concerned for
elderly residents."
The MP is lobbying the Passenger
Transport Executive to review funding arrangements in
the hope that a subsidised service can be restored.
