Caroline
Flint MP supports Doncaster's
"Not in my Neighbourhood" week
19 October 2007
Caroline Flint MP joined Doncaster's
campaign to say NO to antisocial behaviour this week,
joining the Safer Doncaster Partnership's week of activities
to say No to crime, antisocial behaviour and alcohol
misuse.
The Don Valley MP Ms Flint joined
Year 6 pupils from St Joseph's Primary School, Rossington
to undertake a litter pick with the local Safer Neighbourhood
Team.
Said Ms Flint: "The pupils did a great job clearing
litter from around some senior citizens bungalows near
the school and along West End Lane. The pupils are obviously
proud of their school and want to keep the area tidy."
Ms Flint also met the Safer Neighbourhood
Team to see the mobile digital speed Display Unit in
operation. St Joseph's pupil Lauren Forrest recorded
the speed of each passing vehicle.
Ms Flint also met PC Mike Dewsnap
and PCSO Martin Hinchcliffe who patrol the village on
bikes. Said Ms Flint: "The bicycle patrols are
the perfect tool for high visibility patrolling. The
officers can cover a lot of ground and stop and talk
to people easily and they can navigate walkways and
off-road areas."
Said Ms Flint: "I hope that Not
in my Neighbourhood Week has got the message across
that antisocial behaviour, littering, vandalism and
the like will not be tolerated."
