Caroline Flint visits Kraggy Cycles

30 October 2006

Don Valley MP Caroline Flint was keen to get on her bike when she visited Kraggy Cycles, a bicycle recycling project, with local councillor Sandra Holland.

The scheme, run by Craganour Place resident Jim Tierney, promotes healthy exercise through cycling by renovating unwanted bicycles and giving them to local residents. The scheme will accept requests from anyone in Denaby main who wants a bicycle.

Said Caroline: "Kraggy Cycles is a great community initiative. Jim Tierney has always been at the forefront of recycling and it is typical of him to take a simple idea that makes sense and make it happen."

"The tandem is a real collector's item, but takes a lot of skill to ride. I don't think I would have dared take it on the road, certainly not without a helmet and someone experienced to steer."

In just a few weeks, Kraggy Cycles has reconditioned over 30 bicycles with 34 more in production.
